Instructions
In a bowl, combine white sugar, yeast, and warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes.
In a separate bowl, mix 300g of all-purpose flour with salt.
Add half of the flour mixture to the yeast mixture and stir until combined, then add vanilla extract, half of the butter, and the egg.
Add the remaining flour mixture, along with the rest of the butter and egg, and mix until a rough dough forms.
Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, using the remaining 50g of flour to prevent sticking, then let it rest for 10 minutes.
Flatten the dough into a rectangle, spread a mixture of butter and vanilla over the surface, and fold into thirds.
Cut the dough into 9 equal pieces, shape each into a log, slice into 3 strips, braid, and roll into a spiral.
Place the shaped dough pieces into the air fryer.
Air fry at 150°C for 8 minutes, then let them rest inside the fryer for 5 minutes.
Brush the tops with melted butter before serving.
Pro Tips
Use the extra flour sparingly during kneading to keep the dough soft and elastic.
Ensure the milk is lukewarm, not hot, to avoid killing the yeast.
Letting the dough rest inside the air fryer after cooking helps the centers finish setting.
Brush the knots with butter immediately after cooking for a glossy finish.
